The Karma Way is based in Thimphu. Every route, guide and recommendation comes from that.
A small company, on purpose.
We are based in Thimphu and we design journeys through Bhutan and the wider Himalaya. We are not a booking platform and we do not run group departures. Every journey we build belongs to one party.
That limits how many people we can look after in a year. It also means the person who plans your journey knows the valleys you will be driving through, and often the families you will meet.
Understanding is the point.
01Context before sightseeing
A dzong is easy to photograph and hard to understand. We would rather you left knowing why the building is shaped that way, who lives in it, and what happens there in the week you are not present.
02People, not props
The families and guides we work with are colleagues, paid properly and named where they want to be. We do not arrange encounters that treat anyone as scenery.
03Slower, and fewer
Bhutan’s tourism policy is built on high value and low volume. We agree with it. Most of our journeys have fewer stops than the equivalent itinerary elsewhere, and more time at each.

We are extending into Ladakh and Darjeeling for the 2027 season, and eventually Sikkim. We are taking our time: walking the routes, meeting the people, and refusing to sell a region before we know it properly.
